Physicochemical Properties

Appearance: white crystalline or powdery solid.
Odor: Odorless or slightly sulphide odor.

Melting point: about 622°C (decomposition).
Chemical Safety: Unrestricted goods
Solubility: Water: easily soluble in water, the aqueous solution is weakly alkaline (pH about 9-10); Organic solvent: insoluble in ethanol, and other organic solvents.
Hydrolysis reaction: It is gradually hydrolyzed in water to form orthophosphate.
Complexation: Form a soluble complex with metal ions (e.g. Ca² +, Mg² +) for softening hard water.
Thermal stability: When heated to high temperatures (>600°C) it decomposes to form sodium phosphate and oxygen.
Acid base: The aqueous solution is weakly basic and can react with acid to form phosphate.
