- Appearance: White crystalline powder (anhydrous) or colorless transparent crystal (trihydrate)
- Solubility: Highly soluble in water (46.5g/100mL at 20°C), slightly soluble in ethanol
- Melting point: 324°C (anhydrous) or 58°C (trihydrate, dehydration decomposition)

- Hygroscopic: Trihydrate is highly hygroscopic while anhydrous form has low hygroscopicity
