Latest company case about Sodium hexametaphosphate can't be used in those places

Sodium Hexametaphosphate (SHMP, Chemical form (NaPO)₆) is a commonly used food additive, industrial water treatment agent, and washing aid, but it should be cautious or prohibited in some fields or situations. Here are the scenarios in which it is disabled or strictly restricted

First Prohibited or restricted areas of use
1. Food industry (limited in some countries)
Baby food:
China's "GB 2760-2014" clearly stipulates that it should not be used in infant formula food (due to the imperfect infant metabolic system and the risk of high phosphorus intake).

In some countries, it is banned for food:
For example, Japan prohibits the use of sodium hexametaphosphate in some foods (check local regulations).

2. Medical care and pharmaceuticals
Directly used in pharmaceutical preparations:
Without the approval of the Pharmacopoeia, it cannot be used as pharmaceutical excipients (to comply with the Chinese Pharmacopoeia or FDA standards).

Food for patients with renal insufficiency:
High phosphorus additives may aggravate the condition and need to be strictly restricted.

3. Environmentally sensitive areas
Phosphorus emission restricted areas:
In the European Union, North America and other places, the phosphorus content in detergents is strictly limited (such as EU regulation EC No 648/2004), and detergents containing sodium hexametaphosphate may be banned.

Surrounding closed water bodies (lakes, reservoirs) :
Phosphorus discharge can easily lead to eutrophication of water and lead to algae outbreak.

4. Specific industrial scenarios
High temperature and pressure equipment (such as some boilers) :
Long-term use may result in the formation of orthophosphate by hydrolysis, resulting in increased scaling.

In coexistence with certain metal ions:
If there is too much iron or aluminum ion, it may reduce its chelation effect and even precipitate.

Second, use precautions
1. Food additives (subject to standards)

Allowable scope: China allows it to be used in cans, beverages, dairy products, etc. (the limit is usually 0.5~5g/kg), but it needs to be strictly implemented in accordance with GB 2760-2014.

Labeling requirements: Food labels should clearly label "sodium hempetaphosphate" or "E452i".

2. Industrial and household cleaning
Alternatives: In areas where phosphorus is banned, phosphorus free additives (such as zeolite, polycarboxylate) need to be used.

Safety protection: Powder inhalation may irritate respiratory tract, wear a mask when operating.

3. Avoid special groups
Patients with kidney disease and osteoporosis: Reduce intake of foods high in phosphorus (processed foods containing sodium hexametaphosphate).
